As someone who automates half the house and gets overly excited about things like smart thermostats, I have to say — the AquaSense 2 hit all the right notes. Setup was easy, app worked without bugs, and the cleaning performance? Spot on. From the waterline to the floor, it handled every inch like it had a map in its head. The water even looks clearer.
But here’s the funny part. A few times after a cleaning cycle, I went outside expecting to just grab the robot — and it was nowhere in sight. Thought maybe something went wrong, so I hit up Beatbot’s customer service. To their credit, they replied fast and explained that this model isn’t designed to float indefinitely after finishing like the pricier ones. It surfaces and waits for a while, but if nobody collects it, it gently sinks to save battery.
So I pulled up the backyard camera footage and, sure enough, there it was — just floating there patiently, like a loyal dog waiting at the door. After a few minutes of being ignored... it slowly sank.
Honestly? I felt a little bad. And laughed a lot.
So yeah — the thing’s smart, clean, efficient, and even kind of dramatic. 5 stars for the cleaning, bonus point for giving me a good laugh.

I am quite happy with it, but I find it very slow in its cleaning action and it does not clean the walls perfectly. I would like to know if this is because I am not using the app?

So far, we had been using a wired pool robot from another manufacturer, which did a satisfactory job. However, handling it was sometimes annoying, as after each use, the cable needed to be untangled and laid out straight to prevent it from tangling the next time. Additionally, the random pattern the robot used to clean the pool floor and walls was not optimal, as it never covered the entire area evenly. Our wide pool steps were an insurmountable obstacle, causing the robot to get stuck frequently—often multiple times during a cleaning cycle—and it couldn’t free itself without manual intervention, i.e., pulling the cable.
What bothered me about wireless pool robots before was their limited range and short operating time in a large pool, as well as the hassle of retrieving the robot with a hook (if you missed the brief window when it surfaces at the end of the cleaning cycle). One interesting feature some manufacturers offer is signaling the robot to surface using a rattle submerged in the water. Of course, this does not work when the battery is fully drained.
The concept of the Beatbot Aquasense 2 seems brilliant and simple at the same time. The robot, similar to a submarine, is equipped with a ballast tank. Once placed near the pool edge, it dives automatically and starts cleaning. At the end of the cycle, it pumps out the water from the ballast tank, surfaces, and moves to the pool edge. Even if you retrieve it later, it’s not a problem, because the robot remains afloat even with a completely drained battery.

Practical and effective cleaning modes. The areas are covered systematically, and the N-pattern for walls and waterline is especially efficient.

Cleaning performance is excellent and far surpasses our previous robot.

The robot handles all obstacles easily—including our wide steps and protruding wall fittings for skimmers, inlets, lights, and drains. I have never had to intervene manually.

Maximum runtime of over four hours is more than enough for our pool (~100 m³).

The weight, despite the battery, is not an issue thanks to the automatic surfacing, making handling easy and pleasant.

The charging station is cleverly designed; the slanted positioning saves space, and placing the robot on it is simple without precise alignment.

My only criticism:
The filter basket is easy to remove and insert, but it would be very helpful if the bottom could open or fold down for cleaning (rinsing with a garden hose). Our previous robot had such a feature, which made rinsing much easier. It’s puzzling why this was omitted in an otherwise highly thoughtful high-end device like the Aquasense 2. Hence, I deducted one star. I hope a modified version of the filter basket will be offered in the near future for easier cleaning.

Cannot connect to the phone, and the program buttons do not respond consistently.
Otherwise, a good device.
